註：陳之佛早歲負笈東瀛，返國後從事創作及美術教育。他專攻花鳥，作品帶東洋畫風，兼取法宋元，融匯貫通，故筆下花鳥富裝飾性又得自然之趣，在近代花鳥畫中獨具一格。本幅寫白鸚鵡，身軀大如實物，正面立於白梅枝上，揚首昂冠，雙目烱然有神，爪勁有力緊抓粗幹，益顯其威武氣慨。蠟梅老幹橫亙畫面，通體粗拙狀如環串，嶙峋凹凸，畫其滄桑飽歷之態。他巧妙選用褐黃絹料，配合白鸚敷粉，蠟梅或含苞或綻放，淡紅粉白相映，色調古雅，具宋畫韻味，又不失生活氣息，屬畫家晚期之傑構。
