Expected old wear, including  few losses/flakes to the mother of pearl inlay and a very fine age crack to the interior lining tray, in the water dropper inset. Water dropper is missing. Two age cracks to two of the corner edges of the box, and an incipient horizontal age crack (visible from interior) to the long side opposite.

The rectangular box with flush-fitting overhanging, slightly domed, cover, the black lacquer ground decorated in gold and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and inlaid in mother of pearl with stylised melons, the interior with a tray fitted with slate, red lacquer interiors, 26.5cm long x 10.5cm deep x 10cm high.
