Painted in rich tones of underglaze cobalt blue, this Kraak klapmuts has a central medallion depicting an extensive mountainous river landscape with pavilions, a pagoda, and a small boat, framed by rocky outcrops and trees. The cavetto is divided into four ruyi-head-shaped cartouches containing herons in reverse decoration among cobalt-blue lotus leaves. The cartouches are separated by smaller decorative motifs, while the flat rim is encircled by a dense peony and foliate scroll.
The exterior is more simply decorated with four cartouches enclosing floral motifs, separated by stylised vases. The rim is painted with two birds among branches extending downwards from the rim.
