In the Bob Stevens' collection, there is a banded agate bottle of the same shape and natural pattern, however carved with further design to be like a purse and dated 18th century, it can be derived that the current bottle, as it is of such a distinct shape, is also designed after a pouch. See Bob C. Stevens: The Collector's Book of Snuff Bottles, New York and Tokyo, 1976, pl.533.
Bob Stevens舊藏中有一件縞瑪瑙鼻煙壺，器形及天然紋理與本品相同，然其另加雕飾成荷包狀，斷代為十八世紀。本品器形獨特，由此推斷亦應仿荷包而製。見，紐約及東京，1976年，圖版533。
