The deep bowl is painted in underglaze cobalt blue, one side depicting 'Ode to the red cliff', with three figures seated in a boat amid layered mountains, pine trees, rocks and crane, the reverse is inscribed with Su Shi's 'Latter Ode on the Red Cliff'. The interior is centred with a potted pine, and the base bears an apocryphal six-character Chenghua mark within double circles.
Inspired by the celebrated Red Cliff episode, the design conveys the literati ideals of spiritual freedom and communion with nature. The harmonious combination of painting, calligraphy and literature exemplifies the refined aesthetic of late Kangxi scholar's porcelain.
此碗深腹，下承圈足。通體青花繪飾，一面繪夜遊赤壁圖，扁舟中三人對坐，遠山層疊，蒼松、湖石及仙鶴相映, 另一面書蘇軾《後赤壁賦》，詩、書、畫相互輝映。碗心繪盆栽古松，底書青花雙圈「大明成化年製」六字寄託款。
此題材取材自東坡赤壁故事，藉泛舟夜遊抒發寄情山水、曠達超然的文人情懷，並結合詩、書、畫於一器，充分展現康熙晚期文人瓷的典雅意趣。
