Compare with a similar bottle, with near identical 'plum blossom' decoration, and also trace of red Guyuexuan mark, see Christie's, 23 Mar 2012, lot 1589. In the Crane collection, there are two bottles similar to the current lot, one with a bit more elaborate painting, however the same shoulder decoration and most likely identical mark, accessed here, the other, with almost the same painted decoration, no shoulder decoration nor mark, accessed here. Judging from the mark on the Crane bottle, it is understandable why the current lot, as well as the one sold at Christie's, only has faint traces of the mark left.
About the marked bottle, Balbach discusses that 18th-century bottles with Guyue Xuan marks, associated with the lakeside Jian Yuan (Garden of Reflection), tend to carry naturalistic enamelled subjects, unlike the formal, archaistic and religious Court style of Beijing. Prof. Peter Lam proposes that glass made in the Yuanming Yuan workshop was handed to the Ruyi Guan painters, also based in the Yuanming Yuan, for decoration; the Archives confirm the finer work was done there rather than at the Canchikou glass factory. If so, the early Guyue Xuan group came from the Imperial Household Workshops and should share the features of bottles with genuine Qianlong reign marks.
比較一件相似之鼻煙壺，其「梅花」紋飾幾乎相同，並帶有殘存的紅彩古月軒款，見佳士得，2012年3月23日，。鶴聚堂藏中有兩件與本拍品相近之鼻煙壺：其一畫工稍繁，然肩部紋飾相同，款識亦極可能一致，詳見，另一件所繪紋飾幾近相同，惟無肩部紋飾，亦無款識，詳見。由聚鶴堂壺款識觀之，不難理解何以本拍品及佳士得所售之例，款識皆僅餘淡痕。
關於帶款之壺，Balbach 指出，十八世紀「古月軒」款鼻煙壺與鑑園相關，多以琺瑯彩繪寫實自然題材，有別於北京宮廷崇尚仿古及宗教意涵之正統風格。林業強教授認為，圓明園玻璃作坊所製之玻璃器，或交由同設於圓明園之如意館畫師加彩；清宮檔案亦證實，較精之作出自圓明園，而非蠶池口玻璃廠。若此說成立，則早期古月軒一類當出自內務府造辦處，其特徵應與帶真正乾隆年款之鼻煙壺相符。
