If a condition report is provided to assist you with assessing the condition of the lot, it is for guidance purposes only. Such condition report may not refer to all faults, restoration, alterations, or adaptations because Sotheby's is not a professional conservator or restorer but rather a condition report is a statement of subjective, qualified opinion genuinely held by Sotheby's. For these reasons, any such condition report is not an alternative to taking your own professional advice regarding the condition of the lot. Prospective buyers should also refer to the Guide for Buyers at Auction which includes important notices concerning the type of property in this sale.

说明:This elegant bowl is particularly notable for its exquisitely painted floral scroll, rendered in a brilliant combination of doucai and famille-rose enamels. The doucai palette, which was originally developed in the Chenghua reign, gained immense popularity and reached new heights of refinement during the Yongzheng period. The potters at the imperial kilns in Jingdezhen ingeniously combined the traditional underglaze-blue outlines characteristic of doucai with the soft, opaque colouration of the newly introduced famille-rose enamels. This innovative technique was ideally suited to the Yongzheng Emperor’s highly refined taste for delicate and unassuming porcelains, resulting in wares of unparalleled grace and vibrancy.
Compare a very similar bowl sold in these rooms, 11th July 2020, lot 3619; and another of this unusual design sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 29th November 2017, lot 3013. For a related pattern, see two examples from the collection of The Hon. Mountstuart William Elphinstone, one sold in these rooms, 26th October 1993, lot 152, and the other sold at Christie’s London, 15th June 1998, lot 162.
