说明：本盤體量恢宏，直徑約60公分，青花描繪細膩，堪稱康熙青花瓷器中的傑出之作。寬闊的盤面為人物故事提供了氣勢非凡的構圖空間，所繪「四美」置身雅緻庭院內景，圍坐桌旁，庭園景致於其後徐徐展開。畫師以濃淡相間的鈷藍描繪人物、陳設及園林，構圖疏密有致，營造出和諧而富有層次的空間感。
仕女置身清雅居所、周圍陳設文房清玩的圖景，是康熙瓷器廣受喜愛的裝飾題材。此類畫面取材自傳統文人雅集的風雅意境，並將之移置於女性閨閣雅聚的私密空間。本盤所繪四位仕女被認為是傳說中帝嚳的四妃——姜嫄、簡狄、常儀及慶都。其事蹟早見於歐陽詢（557–641年）奉敕編纂、於624年完成的類書《藝文類聚》。然而，此題材鮮見於尺寸如此宏大的瓷器之上。可比較一件尺寸及構圖同樣恢宏的大盤，於倫敦蘇富比2006年7月12日拍賣，編號81。康熙瓷器中另有一件青花四妃十六子圖罐可資參照，載於《上海博物館藏康熙瓷圖錄》，香港，1998年，編號54。
燒造如此碩大的瓷盤，對製瓷工藝要求極高：窰工須在燒成過程中妥善控制龐大的胎體，以免翹曲變形；畫師則須於寬廣盤面之上準確掌握繁複人物構圖的尺度與比例。可比較Morpurgo舊藏另一件巨幅青花大盤，尺寸與本品相若，近緣同樣環飾如意紋，惟盤心描繪唐明皇遊月宮圖；該盤於倫敦蘇富比2018年11月8日拍賣，編號5，其後再於北京中國嘉德2022年9月27日拍賣，編號2049。兩盤所繪故事雖異，惟尺寸、邊飾構圖及人物描繪手法均頗為一致，顯示兩者或同屬康熙時期一組風格相類的巨幅青花器。
