The kendi is potted with a globular body and gently rounded shoulders rising to a tall cylindrical neck with a straight mouth and thickened rim. One side is applied with a mammiform spout terminating in a slightly upturned nozzle. The body is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with birds among bamboo leaves and rockwork, accompanied by a lizard, butterflies and other insects. The shoulder is encircled by a floral scroll above a band of radiating lines. The lower neck is decorated with pendant leaves and the upper section with upright plantain leaves. The mammiform spout is painted with flowering and fruiting sprays, while the nozzle is surrounded by a band of overlapping lotus petals.
