Overall in excellent condition. The teak surfaces appear to have been sensitively repolished at some point in the piece’s history and exhibit very minimal age- and use-related wear, including a few scattered minor scuffs and fine surface scratches, a handful of minor flecks and minute abrasions, the majority of which are concentrated to the games tables’ tabletop and none of which is visually distracting. There are also a few scattered restorations in the form of touch ups as well as a few joints that have been historically re-glued, none of which detract from the overall presentation and all of which are only visible upon close inspection. The birch inlays all appear to be original and undisturbed and are in overall very good condition.
If a condition report is provided to assist you with assessing the condition of the lot, it is for guidance purposes only. Such condition report may not refer to all faults, restoration, alterations, or adaptations because Sotheby's is not a professional conservator or restorer but rather a condition report is a statement of subjective, qualified opinion genuinely held by Sotheby's. For these reasons, any such condition report is not an alternative to taking your own professional advice regarding the condition of the lot. Prospective buyers should also refer to the Guide for Buyers at Auction which includes important notices concerning the type of property in this sale.
