An exceptionally rare plate with a gently rounded cavetto. According to Maura Rinaldi, this is the only known example of this form bearing an egret mark. This example is illustrated and discussed in Maura Rinaldi’s book 'Kraak Porcelain: A Moment in the History of Trade'. The central decoration depicts an eagle perched on rockwork, beside a pine tree and bamboo branches. In the distance stretches a turbulent sea with large rolling waves, beneath softly curling clouds. The rim is divided into eight large panels decorated with an egret beside a lotus plant, a kingfisher in flight beside a lotus plant, a butterfly above foliage, and a resting kingfisher perched on a lotus branch. Each design is repeated twice and arranged in a mirrored composition. Between these are smaller panels filled with stylised diamond and dot motifs. The reverse is similarly divided into panels, decorated with alternating lingzhi and insects, interspersed with narrow panels containing stylised cloud motifs. The centre bears a finely executed egret mark.
本盤曾收錄並論述於其著作《Kraak Porcelain: A Moment in the History of Trade》。
