Of flattened circular form, the shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck, with a flat lip, wide mouth and neatly carved protruding oval footrim, the body well-carved through a double overlay of white on reddish-brown to the opaque pink ground, depicting a continuous scene with each main side showing a magpie perched on the branches of a blossoming prunus tree, a second magpie standing on rockwork below, the footrim also carved from the overlay.
Note: The image of magpies in the top of a prunus tree conveys the wish that the recipient have “happiness to the tips of your eyebrows.”
