Each of rectangular shape, finely painted with a shaped cartouche, one enclosing a cricket perched on a spray of lilies issuing from rockwork, the other depicting a dragonfly in flight above foliate and blossoming peonies, the central cartouches framed by scrolling foliate borders reserved on a pink ground, both panels mounted within wood frames.
Each, 47cm (18 1/2in) wide x 25cm (9 7/8in) high, including frame. (2).

Whilst Canton enamel was produced in the mid-18th century in a range of exotic forms, the panels presented a particularly versatile format, being incorporated in furniture including screens and bureaus as well as presenting artworks in their own right. See for example a painted enamel-inset bureau sold at Bonhams, 14 May 2026, lot 28.
See a related painted enamel figural panel of similar size, 18th century, which was sold at Christie's London, 11 November 2016, lot 687.
