Early Qing Dynasty
Of globular form applied with a large circular handle with tail end, set opposite a 'swan-neck' spout, the body applique-decorated on each side with a pair of Buddhist lions depicted frolicking with a brocade ball above a ruyi sceptre and sacred emblem above and below bands of scrolling floral motifs at the foot and shoulder, the handle and spout similarly decorated, the cover surmounted by a knop formed from a naturalistically moulded lion, linked to the handle with a metal chain; fitted box.

壺身渾圓，以模塑瑞獅戲球為鈕，蓋上貼書卷扇形紋，其肩及足處飾菊花紋一周，中間貼花兩獅子戲繡球，富吉慶之意，下帶如意及扇子圖案，紋飾繁密，其圓把及三彎流皆飾以菊花紋，整體捏塑精到。羅桂祥先生收藏一件貼花獅子壺，其紋飾及形制與本壺類似，詳見曾柱昭編，《宜興陶藝》，香港，1981年，頁171，圖版111。
