款識：
茜紅衫子玉肌香，南國風流十八孃。若得青禽傳信早，不教鼙鼓動漁陽。丁卯六月，高奇峰寫生於雲起樓。
鈐印：「奇峰不死」、「高嵡」、「明道若昧」。
藏印：「陳符祥」。
來源：陳符祥（1879-1946）舊藏
陳氏，台山水南鄉人，早歲入嶺南學堂，肄業後赴港經商，業務範圍廣泛，且熱心提倡教育。一九二二年，嶺南大學校長鍾榮光在港設立附屬小學，陳氏即校董之一。三〇年任廣州嶺南大學校董兼財政委員，積極參與校務。陳符祥與高奇峰結緣，或可追溯至嶺南大學時期。高氏一九二五年受聘為嶺大美術講師，並獲餽地以資築室。二九年，高氏為養痾請辭，特准支半薪休假一年。及後他遷居天風樓養病，仍心繫學校，三一年獲委起草成立美術學院，主理中國畫學系。惟一九三三年十一月二日，高奇峰於滬猝然病逝，其訃告及〈高奇峰先生榮哀錄〉，屢見陳符祥參與治喪事宜。其靈柩由張坤儀護送經香港返粵時，陳符祥亦往九龍碼頭迎候。
題簽者高冠天（?-1949）乃高奇峰三兄，一九一〇年於嶺南大學預科畢業後，服務母校，歷任秘書長、校董會幹事及星洲分校校長等。一九三三年，與陳符祥等同為高奇峰襄理後事。
註：「所謂美術也，譬如見了一顆荔枝，其鮮豔嫣紅之色，便想到它晶瑩似玉的果實，亦清亦香的氣味；聯想到那荔枝丹砂萬顆，星綴樹中，與及綠葉婆娑相映成趣，及其生產地之粵嶺風光，便發生無限詩趣……。」

奇峰擅寫花鳥，惟筆下鸚鵡甚稀，考傳世畫迹，以荔枝相配者似僅得本幅。畫中鸚鵡踞立枝頭，羽色渲染自然，豔麗又不失沉著，其眼神銳利，英氣風發。下方荔枝或碩大成熟，嬌紅欲滴；或小巧半熟，略帶青澀，果殼綴以密集色點，表皮鼓脹，飽含水份，令人聯想此「嶺南佳果」之色、香、味，貫徹其美學感悟之例證也！
