In the present lot, the combination of blue glass with golden flecks appears to emulate lapis lazuli, whose deep ultramarine tone is naturally speckled with golden pyrite inclusions. Compare with a blue glass snuff bottle possibly imitating lapis lazuli, 1723-1880, illustrated by H.White, , London, 1992, pl.66, no.4.
