Li Junting, Yangzhou School, dated Spring 1821 and with seal mark Wei Zhi
Of rounded medallion form tapering to a slender, cylindrical neck, with flat mouth rim and small mouth, carved through the white overlay with a vignette of a boy who has lost his hat while pulling an ox cart driven by another, inscribed xinsi chun ri, corresponding to 1821, spring day, reversed by a horseman and his hound pursuing a hare, the rider swinging a bolo over his head, sealed Weizhi, the bottle brilliantly executed and resting on a complementary white glass foot ring.

One of the most talented and brilliant carvers in the Qing dynasty, Li Junting is amongst the few identified artists in this medium that are identifiable by his seal. See another bottle in a pink ground and dated to 1821, published in R. Kleiner, , London, 1995, no. 179, pp. 270-271, this with a green overlay. See another, no. 171.
