The double gourd vase is potted with a tall slightly flaring neck, rounded upper bulb, full lower bulb and narrow waist, supported on a foot rim. The neck is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with floral motifs, while the upper bulb is decorated with two scholars seated facing one another in a landscape with plantain, rocks, trees and distant mountains. The waist is encircled by bands of scrolling flowers and lotus petals.
The lower bulb is painted with a continuous scene of 'Jiang Guan JIn jue' (Promotion to Office and Rank). Two boys stand before an official, one presenting a tray bearing a jue vessel, the other holding a brocade-covered document. The smiling official is shown receiving them, attended by four servants carrying a parasol and ceremonial implements before a courtyard building. The document symbolises official appointment, while the jue vessel evokes noble rank, expressing wishes for promotion and elevated status.
The auspicious double-gourd form carries a dual meaning: a refined literati gathering on the upper bulb and a wish for official advancement on the lower bulb.
此瓶作葫蘆形，長頸微侈，上腹圓鼓，下腹豐滿，束腰，下承圈足。頸部以青花繪花卉紋，上腹通景繪兩位文士相對而坐，周圍點綴芭蕉、山石、樹木及遠山。上下腹交接處飾纏枝花卉及蓮瓣紋。
下腹通景繪 ‘加官進爵’ 人物故事圖。畫面中兩名童子面向一官員而立，其一托盤，盤中置爵杯，另一手持錦冊，官員含笑迎受，身後四名隨從分持傘蓋及儀仗，立於庭院建築之前。此題以錦冊象徵授官，爵杯寓官爵，寄託仕途晉升、位列顯貴之吉願。
整器以葫蘆吉形承載文人雅集與仕途高升之雙重寓意，畫面層次豐富，人物生動傳神，於清雅筆意中寓富貴吉願，頗具晚明至過渡期青花人物故事瓷之魅力。
