The Asian art holdings of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art/Florida State University in Sarasota are anchored by the Nancy and Ira Koger Collection, one of the most comprehensive assemblages of Chinese ceramics formed in twentieth-century America.
Brought together over four decades by the prominent real estate developer, philanthropist, and arts patron Ira Koger (1912–2004) and his wife Nancy (1915–2005), their collection spanned approximately 1,000 objects across the breadth of Chinese ceramic history. Though best known for highly important imperial porcelains, the Kogers possessed a profound appreciation for Ming and Qing dynasty monochromes.
