Footnotes
清 十九世紀 紅木雕梅紋長方桌
The design and décor of this table draw their inspiration from 18th century furniture naturalistically carved to simulate bamboo, rootwood and flowering prunus branches. See, for example, a very large zitan table carved around the apron and legs with an intricate openwork design of interlinked gnarled branches issuing small prunus flowers, published in Nancy Berliner (ed.), , New Haven and London, 2010, p. 145, pl. 36 and cat.no. 33. This table was house in the Fuwangge, the Belvedere of Viewing Achievements, in the fourth courtyard of the Ningshougong (Palace of Tranquility and Longevity) in northeastern corner of the Forbidden City, , pp. 118-128.
