Jade table screens were amongst the most coveted decorative objects for the scholar's studio during the High Qing period, particularly under the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. Following the Qing conquest of the Khotan and Yarkand regions in the 24th year of Qianlong's reign (1759), large, high-quality boulders of nephrite jade flowed into the jade workshops in unprecedented quantities and of higher quality. This steady supply allowed lapidary artisans to create magnificent, thick panels that served as three-dimensional stone renderings of classical Chinese landscape paintings.
另可比較馬錢特舊藏一件乾隆白玉插屏,著錄於《Anniversary Exhibition of Chinese Jades from Han to Qing》,倫敦,編號15。
