The small rounded rectangular body with a lustrous <i>roiro</i> ground lacquered in gold <i>takamaki-e</i> with a wasp hovering beneath a wasp's nest on one side and two more wasps on the other, the design of the nest continuing over the surface of the cover, the interior risers of plain black lacquer, signed in gold <i>hiramaki-e </i>on the base <i>Reisai utsusu</i>, with a miniature <i>shakudo ojime</i> inlaid on each side in silver and <i>shakudo</i> low relief with a solitary butterfly.
