The dish is potted with a flared rim and shallow, rounded sides supported on a foot rim. The centre is painted in underglaze cobalt blue, within a double circle, with a pair of pheasants among flowering peonies. One pheasant flies overhead, turning its head downwards, while the other stands upon rockwork and looks up towards it. The luxuriant peonies are interspersed with birds in flight. The cavetto is encircled by flowering sprays of peonies and pomegranates, accompanied by birds and insects. The rim is highlighted with a brown iron-oxide glaze.
Admired for its splendid plumage, the pheasant traditionally symbolises nobility and a brilliant future, while the peony, celebrated as the ‘king of flowers’, represents wealth and prosperity. Together, the pheasant and peony convey wishes for distinction, prosperity and a flourishing future.
盤敞口，淺弧壁，口沿施醬釉，下承圈足。盤心青花雙圈內繪牡丹花卉及一對錦雞，一隻展翅飛翔，回首俯視；另一隻立於山石之上，昂首與之相望。四周牡丹繁盛，枝葉舒展，間飾飛鳥。內壁環飾折枝牡丹及石榴，伴以飛鳥及蝶蟲。
錦雞因羽色華美，常被視為高貴與錦繡前程的象徵，牡丹素有 ‘花中之王’ 之稱，寓意富貴繁榮。錦雞與牡丹相配，寄託錦繡富貴、前程似錦的美好願望。
