A HARDSTONE-EMBELLISHED HUANGHUALI BOX AND COVER

Of rectangular form, the cover inlaid with pomegranates on gnarled branches sprouting mother-of-pearl blossoms and carnelian buds, the bamboo with mother-of-pearl stalks bearing bone leaves, all above various hardstone 'boulders' scattered along the ground, the sides and front of the box similarly decorated with flowers including camelias and buddha's finger citron, with butterflies soaring above, set with a brass lockplate, and brass hinges and handles.
18.5 cm (7 1/4 in.) high x 41.5 cm (16 3/8 in.) wide x 24.5 cm (9 5/8 in.) deep (2).
