Overall, the screens are in good condition, most Japanese screens have some restoration by the nature of their use being opened and closed repeatedly, there is some wear around the hinges consistent with age and use, each panel with some areas of paper losses and with associated repairs, some slight marks, some slight wear to the paper surface in places, a few further small repairs, each screen with some slight wormage and with associated repairs to the gold ground, each screen with some discolouration to the central two panels, the left screen with some wear to the bottom left corner of the leftmost panel, the engraved copper-gilt fitting to the top right-hand side of the rightmost panel is slightly loose, the right screen with some losses and wear to the gold moriage on the maple leaves, including some slight cracks and lifting to the raised gold pigment and with associated re-touching, the rightmost panel with a slight crack extending approx. halfway across the lower section, some uneven toning and slight discolouration to the gold around the hinges, each screen with old wear to the silk brocade border, the paper backing well worn, the fitted wood storage box with some old wear, including chips, dents, scratches, wormage and losses to the wood in places, the ink inscriptions to the exterior rubbed.
