A well-carved and elegant example. wear to extremities; chip to border at shoulder, scattered small chips and nicks, under UV light no repairs or restorations seen; lacking spoon, wear to gilding.

Of slightly bulbous shield shape, with an everted neck, flat attached gilt bronze mouth and flat oval attached bronze foot, carved in deep relief with a continuous scene depicting on one main side two women, one holding a fan, in conversation and standing on a terrace overlooking mountains in the distance, the reverse with two men standing in front of a pavilion bordered by an overhanging pine tree, with a geometric diaper ground in differing patterns, the narrow sides with leafy trees, a pine tree and rockwork, geometric borders at the neck and foot, with original matching stopper.
