Cf. See an identical jar in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. For an example in the Princessehof Museum, Leeuwarden, the Netherlands (37 cm high), see Eva Strober, Ming Porcelain for a Globalized Trade (Stuttgart, 2013), cat. no. 40, pp. 132–133; see also B. Harrison, Pusaka Heirloom Jars of Borneo (Oxford, 1990), pl. 77 (the same jar).
The present lot belongs to a small group of surviving jars named after the botanist Sir John Tradescant (d. 1638), who acquired one such jar, given to Elias Ashmole in 1659 and then donated to the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, which opened in 1683.
Other examples are preserved in the collections of the Cantor Arts Center, Stanford University (1961.27), and the Museum Pusat, Jakarta. Similar jars are illustrated in W. B. Honey, Ceramic Art of China and other Countries of the Far East (London, 1945), pls 81 and 102 (both in the Victoria and Albert Museum), and S. Jenyns, Ming Pottery and Porcelain (London, 1953), pl. 113B (ex-Eumorfopoulos Collection).

W. B. Honey,Ceramic Art of China and other Countries of the Far East(倫敦,1945 年),圖版 81 及 102(兩件均藏於維多利亞與亞伯特博物館);以及 S. Jenyns,Ming Pottery and Porcelain(倫敦,1953 年),圖版 113B(原屬尤莫福普洛斯收藏)。
