Signed Shaoxuan and dated bingshen year, corresponding to 1896
The high-shouldered slender bottle supported by an oval recessed foot, oval neck, flat rim and aperture, the crystal bottle delicately painted on one face with a cat posed on a rocky outcropping by a cluster of peonies and flanked by a flowering plum, the feline transfixed by two insects in flight above, inscribed shi zai bingshen zhong qiu Shaoxuan (at bingshen 1898, mid autumn, Shaoxuan), reversed by a long colophon signed Ma Shaoxuan.

The text reads: Guan hua fei jin, zhuo shou cheng chun; sheng qi yuan chu, liu ying bi lin; lv lin ye wu, hua cao jing shen; tuo you xing si, ming yue qian shen. Ma Shaoxuan zuo yu Jingshi.
題識:觀花匪禁,著手成春;生氣遠出,流鶯比鄰;綠林野屋,花草精神;脫有形似,明月前身。馬少宣作於京師。
It can be translated as:
Gazing upon flowers without restraint, the touch of the hand brings forth spring; vital spirit reaches afar, while orioles sing nearby. Amid verdant woods and rustic dwellings, flowers and grasses are imbued with spirit. Beyond mere outward likeness lies the former incarnation of the luminous moon.
