Large silver-shaped sauceboats are among the most recognisable forms made at Limehouse. Variations in modelled details show that the factory used a large number of different moulds, and with variable success. A sauceboat with similar moulding and decoration was sold by Bonhams on 15 December 2020, lot 97 and is illustrated by Nicholas Panes, , 2009, p.48, figs.55 and 56 and alongside the present lot by Mary White, 2002, p.419, fig.a. A fragment of a lion mask and paw foot from a sauceboat excavated at the factory site is illustrated by Kieron Tyler and Roy Stephenson, , 2000, p.41, fig.45.
