Of faceted shield shape tapering to narrow edges and a high shoulder under a cupped, flat rim and small mouth, the pale white stone carved on one face with two elegant stems of chrysanthemums, reversed by a four-line imperial inscription, the even pale white stone well hollowed.

[纔]霑盃水潤，
不改傲霜姿。
恰似柴桑老，
折腰五斗時。
Imperially inscribed and may be translated to:
Moistened by no more than a cupful of water,
It changes not its proud bearing in the frost.
Just like the old recluse of Chaisang,
Who would not bow for five pecks of rice.
The inscription is taken from a poem entitled 'Playfully Inscribed on Potted Chrysanthemums' ( 《戲題盆菊》), recorded in juan 44 of the Qianlong Emperor's (《御製詩初集》卷四十四).
