Such oak leaf-shaped dishes were referred to in the 1711 inventory of the Meissen manufactory as drinking vessels; they were made in three sizes in stoneware and porcelain (Claus Boltz, "Steinzeug und Porzellan der Böttgerperiode," in Keramos, 167/168 (April 2000): 52. Johann Michel is listed among the potters at the Meissen manufactory in August 1710 and was dismissed in June 1712 (R. Rückert, Biographische Daten der Meißener Manufakturisten des 18. Jahrhunderts, 1990, p. 85).
